I recently used diorama as part of Language Arts lesson to teach the topic “From the Sea”. A diorama is a way to build an exciting scene in a small space. The term Diorama refers to a three-dimensional model of a landscape, event, space, scene or room, often enclosed in a glass showcase for exhibition purposes.
Making diorama as part of English language lesson not only focusses on arts but also language skills such as writing as pupils need to write the name of the sea animals. Pupils’ speaking skills are also enhanced as they need to present their diorama to their friends.
Diorama can also be used for teaching about other animals and also about plants. It can also be a stage for the props during storytelling sessions in the classroom.
